About the Author Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, Edward Schwartz graduated from the College of Naval Architecture and received a Master's Degree in Engineering and a Ph.D. in Physics. He is currently featured in the National Library of Poetry's special publication The Best Poems of 1998 and is a recent inductee into the International Poetry Hall of Fame. He is an accomplished writer with previous novels that focus not only on his life in the Soviet Union, but on a circle of problems influencing artistic and scientific creation. They include "How to Get Out of the Game" (1975), "Rainbow Behind the Back" (1977), "The White Cliff" (1982),"Favour for Favour" (1983) and a collection of plays called "Gods With Artificial Limbs" (1974-84). He now finds immense satisfaction with his writing since he was not able to find the freedom of his personal expression while living in his old country. Edward Schwartz has led a life of personal trial, adventure and accomplishments, which is revealed in his writing. Eventually he discovered New York, where he currently resides.
