This grand coffee table edition contains glorious vintage and contemporary photographs of the hundreds of Jewish houses of worship throughout the entire city. There are sections devoted to synagogue architects and some of the great cantors who officiated in them throughout the years. There is a section listing about 1500 former synagogue locations. Often the Jewish communities depart a neighborhood and move to another area. The grand synagogues are then sold to churches, public schools, office complexes, etc.
