Charlotte Salomon was a German-Jewish artist who created a stunning visual diary of her life as a young artist in Nazi Berlin and as a refugee in France. She died in Auschwitz at age 26. TO PAINT HER LIFE tells the story of Salomon's extraordinary life and death. This book won the 1995 Joan Kelly Prize of the American Historical Association for "the best work in women's history". 8 color and 58 b&w illustrations.
